17 Empowering Body Image Quotes

17 Empowering Body Image Quotes

Everyone loves a good inspirational quote, right? At Lime Ricki, we’re all about empowering you to be confident and comfortable – and that doesn’t mean only during swimsuit season. Body confidence lasts all year round, so keep some of my favorite quotes nearby to remind yourself that you are incredible and beautiful, inside and out.

“The best gift you are ever going to give someone – the permission to feel safe in their own skin. To feel worthy. To feel like they are enough.” – Hannah Brencher

“My great hope for us as young women is to start being kinder to ourselves so that we can be kinder to each other. To stop shaming ourselves and other people: ‘too fat, too skinny, too tall, too short, too anything.’ There’s a sense that we’re all ‘too’ something and we’re all not enough. This is life. Our bodies change. Our minds change. Our hearts change.” – Emma Stone

“My limbs work, so I’m not going to complain about the way my body is shaped.” – Drew Barrymore

“Young women, don’t worry so much about your weight. What makes you different or weird – that’s your strength.” – Meryl Streep

“I’m okay with having bad dance moves. I’m okay with having horrible lower teeth. That’s what makes me me, and, for some reason, it’s worked out all right.” – Katy Perry

“I realize everybody wants what they don’t have. But at the end of the day, what you have on the inside is much more beautiful than what’s on the outside.” – Selena Gomez

“I’m a human being, an imperfect human being who’s not made to look like a doll, and that who I am as a person is more important than whether or not I have a nice figure.” – Emma Watson

“I wish I could go back and tell my teenage self that I was beautiful. But since I can’t, I’m going to say it to you: Every single one of you is unique, beautiful, and worthy of a great life.” – Demi Lovato

“What would happen if, instead of worrying about what you had for breakfast, you focused instead on becoming exquisitely comfortable with who you are as a person? Instead of scrutinizing yourself in the mirror, looking for every bump and bulge, you turned your gaze inward?” – Lisa Turner

“Be confident in the skin you are in, because that is the only body you will ever have, the only place that will ever be solely yours.” – Deejae Harper

“I look my best after an entire hair and makeup team has spent hours perfecting me. I feel my best when I haven’t looked in the mirror for days, and I’m doing things that make me happy.” – Anne Hathaway

“A rose can never be a sunflower, and a sunflower can never be a rose. All flowers are beautiful in their own way, and that’s like women, too. I want to encourage women to embrace their own uniqueness.” – Miranda Kerr

“Growing up, I wish I hadn’t tried so hard to fit in… I’d tell myself to just embrace what you were born with because it’s beautiful and you were made that way for a reason.” – Shay Mitchell

Our Favorite Transitional Pieces for Fall

Our Favorite Transitional Pieces for Fall

I don’t know about you, but for me, fall is in full swing, whether or not the weather agrees! But because most days, it’s been refusing to get cool outside, I’ve been needing to find some wardrobe pieces that can smoothly make the transition that the calendar shows but the temperature doesn’t.

Here are my ideas for some of the best pieces to have in your wardrobe for the time between summer and fall. Let me know if you agree in the comments!

1. A Neutral Dress
You don’t have to pack away that summery dress you love just yet! Layer it with a cardigan or denim jacket and a pair of boots and you have a perfect fall outfit.

2. Bouncy Skirt
That bright skirt you’ve been wearing with every tee you own can still work for you during the season change. Throw a scarf on top and pair it with a fun pair of tights!

3. Basic White Tee
I know a basic white tee is a must-have for my summer wardrobe, and I’m not quite ready to give up that perfect go-to! Luckily, you can still wear white after Labor Day and pair it with a cute faux-fur vest or an oversized scarf.

4. Denim Cutoffs
Denim is a staple for fall; I don’t have to tell you that. But have you considered continuing your denim shorts into the autumn? Instead of pairing them with a bright, flowy top, try a chunky sweater and muted accessories.

5. Midi Dress or Skirt
Let’s be honest, the midi dress can work in any season! Trade your warm-weather wedges for oxfords or flats and you’re good to go!

6. Jeweled Top
If you love wearing a sparkly top to the office on a work day, have no fear – you can still pull it off in the more muted season of fall. Layer it with a darker-toned blazer that complements the colors, and you’ll still look cute and professional.

7. Sandals
If the weather hasn’t made it too cold yet, there’s no reason to stop wearing those adorable sandals! Match them with some dark denim or layering pieces, and they are the perfect outfit inspiration! For more ideas, check out my post Back-to-School Saltwater Style!

What are your favorite transitional pieces for fall, or what summer staples are you not ready to get rid of? Leave a comment!

If you love pattern mixing, you know one of the best combos is dots and stripes! Mix it up with our Princess Peplum White Dot Tankini and the Tommy Bahama cover up hoodie.

What Your Sunglasses Say About You

What Your Sunglasses Say About You

Sunglasses are a staple summer accessory for both fashion and functionality. With so many varieties and styles, it’s tempting not to collect a set of shades for every day of the week! Regardless of the number of sunglasses you have, you probably have your go-to favorite pair.

I know my favorite style is the aviator. But why? Is it because the style best suits my face shape or is it because I feel a little extra glam when I slide them on? Maybe it’s a little bit of both. According to some intense research combined with my own opinion, this is what your sunglasses say about you and your personality.

Aviators // These aren’t just for cops anymore. With color options ranging from basic brown to Lucky Charms rainbow, the aviator has charted new territory. Depending on the size and hue of your aviators, you might be an assertive and self-assured person. A favorite of Pretty Little Liars star Shay Mitchell.

Round // The drama dahling. Making sure to leave the go-go boots at home, these statement specs can be understated or supersized. Hipsters, musicians, and artists are typically drawn to this type of frame so you’re probably a creative if sporting these two-disc frames. Made famous by legendary fashion icons like Jacqueline Kennedy and supermodel Twiggy.

Ray Ban Wayfarers // A certified classic. These have been around for more than five decades and like a classic “they never got out of style, they never go out of style.” If these are your go-to, you embody simplistic urbanity and a no-fuss attitude. An accessory staple of Taylor Swift.

Cat Eye // Made popular in the 50s –  the era of poodle skirts and sipping one milkshake (with two straws) with your crush, these exude a bit of sass. If you’re seen sporting these you’re probably a little retro and lot confident. Audrey Hepburn wore an oversized version of these in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, with a side of pearls.

Heart Shaped // Nothing says fun-loving like a cute pair of heart-shaped sunnies! If you’re drawn to these babies you’re most likely a little bit flirty and the life of the party. A summertime showstopper worn by Katy Perry.

Regardless of which pair of shades is your favorite, all of them will look fabulous paired with one of our suits! Shop our newest collection for a new look this summer.

Don’t forget to post a picture in your new suit on Instagram with the hashtag #lovelimericki for a chance to be featured on our account!

Best Bathing Suits for your Spring Break Getaway

Best Bathing Suits for your Spring Break Getaway

Who’s ready for spring break? I know my kids have already checked out mentally and have been dreaming about all things beach. I guess you could say we’re already craving summer, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Spring break first!

Several years ago when I was shopping for new swim suits, I noticed I couldn’t find a lot of different cuts that were unique yet modest and flattering to my body shape. After a lot of frustrating trips to the mall, I’d come home empty handed, with no new suit for my upcoming tropical vacation with the family… and so Lime Ricki was born. In 2007 when my sisters and I embarked on this adventure to start a swimming suit shop, we all agreed to create swimming suits that were not only cute, but also suitable to different types of activities and body shapes.

I hope as you shop for the perfect bathing suit you find something that you not only love, but also something that accommodates the various activities you’ll be participating in while wearing your suit! Here are my favorite bathing suit picks for any spring break getaway.

1. For the Waterpark//This trendy top is perfect for making a statement in an overcrowded waterpark. For an entire day spent at a waterpark, the separate pieces are ideal for quick trips to the restroom.

2. For Beach Volleyball// The geometric top paired with this flirty skirt is the perfect ensemble for some sandy beach volleyball. The flirty skirt provides enough coverage for your tushy while you volley back and forth with friends from dawn until sunset.

3. For the Pool// Whether you’re swimming laps or playing pool basketball you want a suit that will stay in place and not shift. This shirred band seafoam one-piece is our favorite for days spent swimming or chasing after the kiddies at the pool.

4. For Laying Out// I love this suit because of its timeless yet feminine look. It’s the perfect suit for laying out as the straps can be easily be tucked away so you can avoid tacky tan lines!

5. For Surfing// This geometric navy rashguard is a practical yet stylish option for those days spent in the Pacific riding waves. It’s super comfortable, UV 50+ sun protective (along with every one of our suits), and has a half-zipper in the back for easy on-off transitions.

Bright and Bold Swimwear to Elevate Your Swim Style with Confidence

When we design our collections, we love to explore the world of vibrant swimsuits for women who want a little bit of everything. We understand why many women often opt for modest swimwear designs that prioritize comfort and coverage. However, in recent years, there's been a growing trend in embracing bright and bold swimwear for a new level of confidence and style. So today, we're back on the blog to discuss wearing bright, bold colors and offer a few tips on mix and match swimwear to create a variety of stylish looks from cruise swimwear to the beach or poolside!

Swimwear that Helps You Stand Out with Confidence

Wearing bright and bold swimwear not only makes a fashion statement but also enhances safety. Here's how: bright colors, such as vivid oranges, pinks, and yellows, are easier for lifeguards and fellow swimmers to spot in the water. This added visibility can be crucial in crowded or open water settings, providing peace of mind for swimmers of all ages. Our swimwear also comes with sun-protective features. Not only do we use a perfectly-researched blend of nylon and spandex, but our swimsuit materials also offer UV +50 protection, which can help shield your skin from harmful UV rays while keeping you stylish.

Mixing and Matching - Versatility Meets Style

One of the fantastic aspects of bright and bold swimwear is the ability to mix and match, creating a wide range of stylish looks from just a few pieces. Here are some tips to maximize your swimwear collection:

Solid Colors: Start with a couple of solid, bright-colored bikini tops and bottoms. These act as the base for your swimwear wardrobe.

Patterned Pieces: Add a few patterned items, like floral, geometric, or striped bottoms or tops. These can be combined with solid colors for an eye-catching fit.

Accessorize: Don't forget to accessorize with sarongs, cover-ups, or stylish hats that complement your bright swimwear.

Play with Complementary Colors: Mix colors that complement each other on the color wheel. For example, pair a coral top with turquoise bottoms for an appealing contrast.

Try High-Waisted Bottoms: High-waisted bikini bottoms are not only fashionable but also provide extra coverage for those who prefer it.

Experiment with Layering: Layer a sheer, loose beach dress over your swimwear to create a sophisticated beach or poolside look.

Bright and bold swimwear can breathe new life into your swim style! The versatility of mixing and matching colors and patterns provides endless options for styling fresh, exciting new outfits with pieces that are so comfortable you'll want to wear them all day long. So, the next time you hit the beach or the pool, step out with confidence and make a splash in your vibrant swimwear.
