I don’t know about you, but for me, fall is in full swing, whether or not the weather agrees! But because most days, it’s been refusing to get cool outside, I’ve been needing to find some wardrobe pieces that can smoothly make the transition that the calendar shows but the temperature doesn’t.

Here are my ideas for some of the best pieces to have in your wardrobe for the time between summer and fall. Let me know if you agree in the comments!

1. A Neutral Dress
You don’t have to pack away that summery dress you love just yet! Layer it with a cardigan or denim jacket and a pair of boots and you have a perfect fall outfit.

2. Bouncy Skirt
That bright skirt you’ve been wearing with every tee you own can still work for you during the season change. Throw a scarf on top and pair it with a fun pair of tights!

3. Basic White Tee
I know a basic white tee is a must-have for my summer wardrobe, and I’m not quite ready to give up that perfect go-to! Luckily, you can still wear white after Labor Day and pair it with a cute faux-fur vest or an oversized scarf.

4. Denim Cutoffs
Denim is a staple for fall; I don’t have to tell you that. But have you considered continuing your denim shorts into the autumn? Instead of pairing them with a bright, flowy top, try a chunky sweater and muted accessories.

5. Midi Dress or Skirt
Let’s be honest, the midi dress can work in any season! Trade your warm-weather wedges for oxfords or flats and you’re good to go!

6. Jeweled Top
If you love wearing a sparkly top to the office on a work day, have no fear – you can still pull it off in the more muted season of fall. Layer it with a darker-toned blazer that complements the colors, and you’ll still look cute and professional.

7. Sandals
If the weather hasn’t made it too cold yet, there’s no reason to stop wearing those adorable sandals! Match them with some dark denim or layering pieces, and they are the perfect outfit inspiration! For more ideas, check out my post Back-to-School Saltwater Style!
