Three Ways to Celebrate August
Hey guys! And happy August. If you’re still in school, the countdown is on until you’re back in those super comfy desks, studying hard. So it’s even more important to get the most out of these last few weeks. With that in mind, I’ve made a list of three things you need to do to feel good about the long goodbye that is fall/winter.
1. Go swimming at a place with a rope swing. Nothing says summer like getting a little rope burn on your hands, and maybe a bit of sunburn on your back at the lake. Take a day at the sleepy lake with a rope swing, and breathe summer in deep.
2. Have a pizza party. I’m serious. Pizza is an always food, but is accentuated in the cool evenings of summer. Imagine you and your closest friends all around a pizza, laughing and enjoying the occasional cool breeze passing by. It’s a summer send off if I’ve ever seen one.
3. See how long you can go barefoot in one day. Feel how hot the asphalt is, and remember what it was like running across the street when you were a kid. Let the sharp, stiff grass poke between your toes. Note the way it makes you feel to be completely free. Sense the feeling of a callus growing on your heel. Just be sure to watch out for loose gravel and of course the dreaded broken glass.
August will be kind. Try one of these ways to celebrate it, and the great summer that we’ve had so far.
