Start Your Day Right With Your Morning Routine
With daylight savings happening this past weekend, I am finding it harder to wake up and get going in the morning. I’m hoping that feeling only lasts a few days so that I can get back into my regular routine! I’m a big believer in getting every day started off on the right foot, and I think it has a lot to do with the things you do every morning.
If you want to start kicking your mornings up a notch, try out some of the things I try to do every day! I think it will really make a difference, so make sure you let me know how it goes!
1. Drink a glass of warm lemon water
When you first wake up, you’ve just gone without water for about 8 hours, and it’s the first thing your body craves. You don’t want to shock your body with a cold drink, so drink it warm with lemon and honey. The lemon helps get your digestive system going for the day as the water cleans out your body.
2. Stretch
I like to start my day with a few sun salutations, but you can do whatever stretches are right for your body. Getting moving helps you wake up, rejuvenate, and focus on the day ahead. Get that blood flowing through your body by working out a few kinks.
3. Dry brush your body
I was skeptical about dry brushing at first, but once I tried it, I was hooked. Find a brush that can exfoliate your body – a loofah works great too – and brush your skin toward your heart. You’ll slough off dead skin cells, leaving your body smooth and refreshed. When you’re done, hop in the shower, and don’t forget to moisturize afterward.
4. Play some feel-good music
Nothing boosts your mood like rocking out to some of your favorite songs in the morning, or maybe listening to some gentle tunes to get a gradual start to the day. I love turning on my music while I’m in the shower or getting ready every morning. One of my favorites to jam to is Spotify’s Mood Booster playlist!
5. Eat breakfast
It goes without saying that the most important meal should be a part of your day, but so many of us go without it! Lots of people advocate for a daily green smoothie, but I like to mix it up between that, some fruit and oatmeal, and a cup of greek yogurt. No matter what you like to munch on in the morning, make it healthy and get it into your system!
Bonus: Plan your top three
Take some time to sit down and plan out your day, namely the three priorities that are most important. For me, it’s vital for me to only choose three things, or else I try to do too much and nothing gets done well. When I get my top three checked off, it helps me build confidence and dream bigger, and usually I end up getting more done!
So there you have it: my go-to morning routine. Try out some of these tips and let me know how it goes in the comments! I’ve also created a playlist for your morning (or whenever) workout or stretching routines, so click here to check it out and download.
