If you’re like me, lipstick is your best friend. I rarely leave the house without it. And when I do, it’s because I’m late for something and I put it on in the car (not recommended). But I haven’t always been this way. I remember in high school my mom used to always tell me that I needed some color on my lips. Back then I thought lipstick was for moms and older women. It just seemed…old fashioned to me. Now that I’ve grown up (hardly) I realize that lipstick, old fashioned though it may be, is a necessity. (And I now love anything old fashioned.) A friend once said to me, “Putting on lipstick is probably the best decision you make before 9am.” I couldn’t agree more. It just makes you look that much more put together. It makes you look like a lady.

I recommend spending the money on high end make up, especially lipstick, because drug store lipsticks can dry out your lips (though sometimes I go cheaper myself). That being said, here are a few of my favorite lipsticks.

Brands

MAC Lady Danger is a similar orange-red if you prefer MAC to NARS (I love both). MAC Russian Red and MAC Red are great bright red shades, the only difference is Red is a satin finish and Russian Red is a matte finish.

Now, if you’re going for the cheaper end, Revlon is your best bet. I buy the Revlon Lip Butters and they are so great. They have a sort of chapstick feel so they don’t dry out your lips.

Color

Sugar Frosting and Strawberry Shortcake are my favorite colors, they are both a light pink. If you love light pinks, like MAC Snob, Revlon has a similar color called Pink Pout. MAC Vegas Volt is a great coral lip color and Revlon also has a similar color called Coral Berry.

Wow that was a lot to take in! Do you have a favorite lip color? I want to hear! I love discovering new colors! And remember, lipstick=lady. And don’t we all want to be ladylike?
