#GetInTheWater Interview with Fatima of @stylefitfatty
If you’ve had the pleasure of following @stylefitfatty on Instagram, you know what a rockstar she is. Mama to three, former track athlete, and lover of fitness – she does it all. We got to talk to her about life, parenting, and her relationship with her body – read on to see her answers.
Lime Ricki: What is the last book you read and loved?
Fatty: Do children’s books count? Hahaha, I wish I was a bookworm!
LR: What was your first job?
F: I worked at a “Best Buy” in Sweden.
LR: Who is your celebrity soul sister?
F: Ellen Degeneres
LR: What snack is a must-have on road trips?
F: Gummy bears and mini Milky Ways haha
LR: What song do you listen to when you need a boost?
F: Party in the USA by Miley Cyrus
LR: When do you feel your most confident?
F: When I am with my children :)
LR: What does #getinthewater mean to you?
F: It means feeling confident in your skin, no matter your size, shape or color. OWNING that swimsuit in your rocking body!
LR: What advice do you have about feeling comfortable & confident in a swimsuit?
F: I always cringe when people say “I need to get my body swimsuit ready.” Your body is already ready, it is about rocking what you got in the swimsuit you choose to wear. Exercise self-love everyday and I promise you will be confident, no matter what you look like :)
LR: How do you share body positivity and/or self love with your children?
F: I tell them everyday how beautiful and smart they are. We talk about their strengths because that is what makes them confident, and then we work on strengthening their weaknesses.
LR: Have you struggled with loving your body?
F: Of course, especially after I had our first child. My body changed A LOT – I guess I didn’t know exactly how much or where it’d change. But I learned to love and embrace my new body and I have never felt more beautiful. This is what makes me ME. I believe in balance and I believe in taking good care of ourselves. Whether it is physically or mentally or even spiritually, we all need to put our needs top priority. YOU can do whatever you put your mind into if you are willing to work hard at it. Don’t you dare listen to that inner voice telling you that you are a failure or that you cannot lose weight or whatever your goal is. If you can learn self-talk and self-love, I PROMISE that you can learn to love your body as it is, because you are beautiful just the way you are.
