Hi all. What have you been reading this summer? After work at night do you find yourself lost somewhere between the pages of a good book? Have you had any beach days filled with rising tides and page turning? I hope so! I’ve been MIA from the literary world, and need something to get me back into reading before school begins next month. Can you help me, please? Any good book will do. They say you have to read to be able to write, so these blog posts depend on it!
To hold us over until a good book can be found, here is my favorite line from Roald Dahl’s Danny Champion Of The World, “I was glad my father was an eye-smiler. It meant he never gave me a fake smile because it’s impossible to make your eyes twinkle if you aren’t feeling twinkly yourself. A mouth-smile is different. You can fake a mouth-smile any time you want, simply by moving your lips. I’ve also learned that a real mouth-smile always has an eye-smile to go with it. So watch out, I say, when someone smiles at you but his eyes stay the same. It’s sure to be a phony.”
