10 movies to get you in the fall mood

October is HERE and that means it’s time to break out the cozy blankets, pumpkin scented candles, hot chocolate, and curl up to a good movie. It’s much more eventful to do this when the weather is cold and the leaves outside your window are turning orange. It's also the PERFECT form of self care! Because we are all about self care here at Lime Ricki, we made a list of our top ten favorites movies that are sure proof to get you in the fall mood.

Little Women (2019)

Four sisters and the story of their adolescent life before and after the Civil War. It will definitely make you want to hug any nearby sibling by the end. Isn’t this season all about being thankful for what you have?

Matilda (1996)

A girl discovers she has magical powers and uses them to protect herself against bullies and evil teachers.​​​​ October is perfect for magical powers—especially when they involve making yourself pancakes. 

Fantastic Mr. Fox (2009)

This Wes Anderson film follows the character Mr. Fox as his stealing spree results in his family being hunted down by three farmers. Everything in this movie is orange—tis the season! Plus, it's a family friendly film that will have the adults entertained too.


When Harry Met Sally (1989) 

The story follows two old friends that want to stay old friends but share a grand amount of  “random” encounters in New York City, so much so it's hard to ignore that fate is playing a big part. It’ll whisk you away as they spend most of the movie standing in the autumn leaves in Central Park.

Two sisters Sally and Gillian have to cope with their complicated family history of both heartbreak and witchcraft. The sisterhood and magical powers make for a perfect Halloween girls night.

This modern day fairy tale tells the story of a man created by an inventor who died before finishing him and left him with scissors where he should have hands. The romance, fantasy, and spookiness is perfect for a Halloween movie marathon. 


Hocus Pocus (1993)

We couldn't leave this Halloween classic off the list! A villainous, comedic trio of witches who are accidentally resurrected by a teenage boy on Halloween night go on to haunt the town and wreak havoc. Get ready to laugh and feel all the nostalgia for this one!


Sweet Home Alabama (2002)

A famous New York fashion designer just got engaged, but before she can walk down the aisle she has to go back to her Southern hometown to get divorced from her childhood best friend. There's something so comforting about returning to your hometown, and we think you’ll find comfort in this sweet story too.


Casper (1995)

Another family-friendly Halloween favorite to add to the list! A friendly ghost who lived in an abandoned haunted mansion finds a friend after one hundred years. Casper quickly falls in love with Kat, but their relationship is complicated not only by his ghostly state, but also by his troublemaking uncles.
